Gratitude Practice with Robyn Nisbet

  • Move Sanctuary 306 East Matilija Street Ojai, CA, 93023 United States (map)

Join Robyn for a strong vinyasa flow and prayer ritual to remember our bodies, to remember where we come from, and to remember our humanity.

As we do the work of remembering on Chumash land, through the yoga tradition of South Asian ancestors, on the day commonly known as Thanksgiving, Robyn is practicing reciprocity by offering her payment to the Many Winters Gathering of Elders. MWGOE is an annual spiritual and educational gathering on Gabrielino-Tongva territory. This gathering of teachings from Native Elders was initiated as a response to the false teachings of the history of Native peoples on this land. This is a donation based offering.

ABOUT ROBYN

Robyn’s world is centered around embodied practices, such as various dance forms, yoga, healing art modalities, and being on the land. Her form of activism is in offering support to folks who are looking to access more presence and safety in their body. Robyn has been inspired by many teachers and movement sources around the world, studying Capoeira in LA and Brazil as well as Afro-Brazilian dance, pedagogy of Contemporary dance in Paris, West African dance forms in Senegal, and Danza from the Mexica tradition in Oaxaca, Mexico. She has been studying with her ecology dance theater teacher Dana Iova-Koga for ten years, observing her internal weather patterns in relationship with the weather patterns all around her. She is a certified yoga teacher from the New School of Yoga with Rowan Lommel of Ojai, who comes from the Krishnamacharya and TKV Desikichar lineage.

Robyn is initiated as an Ìyálorisa into the Adesanya Awoyade lineage of Ifa in Ibadan, Nigeria. She studies this West African spiritual tradition and innately somatic practice under her priest Oluwo Ogunkeye Falokun Fasegun and priestess Iya Fayomi Osundoyin Egbeyemi of Ile Orunmila Afedefeyo.
