Samhain holds a time and place on the wheel of the year where the veils between worlds are thin. The “living” and the “dead” walk more closely. The earthly realm and the Faye visit each other with sass and delight, with tricks and with treats. And with Samhain situated inside the season of Scorpio, our external default ego / adaptive and conscious self is just a breath - or a tear - away from our shadowy, younger, fearful, often hidden parts
So we gather together and go it together, instead of alone.
Ritual 1: Seven Generations Cedar Ceremony
For this ceremony, we will be working with our own inner heart, the sacred fires, and our plant allies Cedar and Cypress. With the support of thinly veiled evening, our collective intention, and shamanic drumming, we will step back seven generations together. As we return to the fire, we will pick up any of the wounds and pains and traumas that our ancestors could not transmute that we are available with our supports now to transmute on their behalf. We will then also step seven generations forward where we are the ancestors.
This is one of host Angela’s favorite rituals that was handed down with a blessing for us to do here in the Ojai Valley from a powerful Goddess living in the woods in Massachusetts, Lady Tiana. I am delighted and honored to dance this dance of magic and to share it with you all.
Ritual 2: Lay to Rest. A Burial with Roses
Once the fire ceremony and healing is complete, we will return indoors. With the support of our stone friends and roses, we will take some meditative time to consider what in our living world is ready to be released to spirit world. Maybe it is an old inner story about yourself. Maybe it is an old idiom, a judgment, a criticism. Maybe it is an outer relationship with a person, a business, a place. We will then lay these newly dead to rest. And we will adorn the grave lovingly and respectfully with roses.
The intention for the rituals this year is letting down, letting go, blessing up, and healing…in circle.
These rituals are an offering of release and relief to our selves, and of healing, love, and integration for self, community, 7 previous generations, and 7 generations to come.
Please bring:
Layers of clothing for comfort! We will be outside for the fire ceremony where it will be newly dark. So dress for comfort!
An earth offering for the faye (flower, acorn, stone, etc
An energy, story, etc that you would like to lay to rest.
This will be a closed, cleansed, and sacred ceremony. So plan to be on time and stay until the end to support the integrity of the container. And plan to leave your phones (and cameras) in your bag as we strongly request no photography inside ritual space.
