Golden Threshold: A 2-day Solstice Immersion of Ayurvedic Teachings Sensorial Rituals, and Elemental Practices

  • Sunday June 22nd 1 PM - 4 PM (map)

Step into the golden light of the Summer Solstice—one of the most powerful portals of the year –– a radiant threshold and turning point in nature’s cycle. Golden Threshold is a two-day Ayurvedic immersion that honors this seasonal shift while offering timeless tools to align with nature’s rhythms all year long.

Rooted in the ancient science of Ritucharya (Ayurveda’s seasonal lifestyle wisdom), this immersion invites you into a deeper understanding of how the five elements—earth, water, fire, air, and ether—manifest in both the environment and within you. Together, we’ll explore how to care for the body, mind, and spirit through Ayurvedic teachings, seasonal rituals, and sensorial practices designed to restore balance and attune you to the natural world. Plus, you’ll tune in and connect with Ayurvedic herbs to craft your own seasonal Urdhwartana dry scrub.

Whether you are new to Ayurveda or returning to it as a remembrance, this gathering offers a place to learn, craft, move, and root into presence. We’ll weave practical wisdom with hands-on creation, collective ritual with individual integration—anchoring ourselves in both the fire of summer and the greater cycles that guide our lives.

Day 1: Foundations & Formulas - Saturday, June 21st 1 PM - 4PM

Ayurveda 101 + Seasonal Herbal Crafting

We begin at the threshold with foundational Ayurvedic teachings—an introduction to the five great elements (Pancha Mahabhutas), the doshas, and the seasonal rhythms that shape our well-being. Through guided conversation and journaling, we’ll explore how to live in harmony with the seasons, and in alignment with the current inner fire of high summer.

In the second half of the day, we shift into hands-on practice: crafting a seasonal Urdhwartana dry scrub using Ayurvedic herbs. Traditionally used to stimulate lymphatic flow, support detoxification, and clear excess heat from the body, this aromatic powder becomes both medicine and ritual. You’ll leave with your own handmade blend and the knowledge to recreate it with the seasons.

Day 2: Sensorial Ritual & Embodied Rhythm - Sunday, June 22nd 1 PM - 4PM

Dinacharya, Sound, and Self-Nourishment

The second day invites you into presence and pleasure through morning self-care rituals and afternoon sensorial activation. We begin with Dinacharya—a guided experience of daily Ayurvedic practices like tongue scraping, oiling, and grounding breath, supporting detoxification and energetic clarity.

Then, we transition into a deep listening journey with curated sound and live music. Rooted in subtle body awareness, this part of the immersion offers space for rest, stillness, and movement—whatever your body calls for. Whether you lie down and receive or move in rhythm, all expressions are welcome.

We close in community with a warm adaptogenic tonic, shared reflections, and offerings to carry the light of solstice forward.

ABOUT SHEILA

Sheila Govindarajan is a Clinical Ayurvedic Practitioner, Ayurvedic Doula, Herbalist, Medicinal Aromatherapist, sound artist, and the founder of Rasa Veda—a purpose-driven apothecary and healing practice rooted in the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda. With over 15 years of experience in holistic medicine, Sheila’s work is grounded in a lineage deeply steeped in Ayurvedic traditions, where healing was not just learned, but lived.

Raised in a home where Ayurveda was embedded in daily life—from the kitchen to the body to the spirit—Sheila’s earliest understandings of wellness were shaped by ancestral rhythms and ritual care. This lifelong relationship with the medicine deepened after a personal reckoning: watching a loved one suffer at the hands of a fragmented Western medical system catalyzed her path toward becoming a devoted healer and advocate for integrative care.

Sheila formally trained at the Kerala Ayurveda Academy in Los Angeles and India, completed her Ayurvedic medical residency and Yoga Therapy training at the Kerala Ayurveda Hospital in Southern India, and studied Ayurveda Polarity Yoga Therapy with Amadea Morningstar and Ayurvedic postpartum care through The Sacred Window School. Her clinical work has supported individuals navigating complex health challenges—including cancer, HIV, organ transplants, postpartum recovery, and severe mental health disorders—with compassion and clinical skill.

Alongside her one-on-one practice, Sheila is a sought-after guide of sensorial, immersive journeys that connect participants to the five great elements—ether, air, fire, water, and earth—through somatic ritual, plant medicine, and sound. She has served as an advisor to Kaiser Permanente’s Integrative Medical School, helping to bridge Eastern and Western healing philosophies, and foster dialogue across modalities.

What began as making bespoke balms and tonics for clients grew organically into Rasa Veda—a living extension of her life's work. The apothecary offers small-batch, moon-crafted formulations infused with clinical insight and plant intelligence. These aren’t merely products—they are tools for remembrance, made to support self-healing, align with seasonal rhythms, and invite ritual into everyday life.

Through her treatments, workshops, and ceremonial offerings, Sheila continues to honor and evolve the lineage of Ayurvedic wisdom—bringing soulful, intentional care to a global community in search of balance, connection, and embodied radiance.
